Privacy Policy for OneTool
Effective Date: October 25, 2026 (Version 1.4.1)
Application: OneTool — 21-in-1 Tactical Utility & Outdoor Instrument Suite (Package: com.onetool.compass)
Developer: Kulbirsingh Chhabda ("we", "us", or "our")
Privacy Commitment: OneTool is engineered from the ground up as a privacy-first tactical utility suite. We do not sell, rent, or monetize your personal information. Sensor computations, mathematical evaluations, camera analysis, and GPS measurements are executed directly on your device.
1. Permissions We Request and How They Are Used
A. Precise and Approximate Location Data (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION, ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION)
- Instruments: Compass, Speedometer, Altimeter, GeoCam, and Celestial Explorer.
- Purpose: To calculate local magnetic declination using the NOAA World Magnetic Model (WMM-2025), compute GPS velocity and odometer distance, determine elevation above Mean Sea Level via the EGM96 Geoid model, stamp coordinates onto GeoCam photos, and compute local horizon celestial body positions (Sun, Moon, Planets, Stars).
- Processing: GPS coordinates are processed entirely in device RAM in real time. We do not maintain any developer servers tracking your location.
B. Camera Access (CAMERA)
- Instruments: Optical Height Meter (Hypsometer), GeoCam, Color Detector (Colorimeter), QR Studio (CodeMatrix), and Heart Rate Pulse Meter.
- Purpose:
- Height Meter: Sighting target base and top angles for trigonometric distance and height computation.
- GeoCam: Capturing photos with integrated GPS coordinate, altitude, and tactical HUD watermarks.
- Color Detector: Real-time optical color picking and CIEDE2000 color matching.
- QR Studio: High-speed scanning and decoding of 1D and 2D barcodes (QR, UPC, EAN, Code-128, Data Matrix, Aztec).
- Heart Rate: Finger photoplethysmography (PPG) pulse and cardiac rhythm analysis using the camera sensor and flash.
- Processing: Image frames are analyzed locally in device memory. Camera frames are never uploaded to any remote server.
C. Microphone & Audio Recording (RECORD_AUDIO)
- Instrument: Voice Recorder (Tool #16).
- Purpose: Capturing high-fidelity voice memos, field notes, and audio recordings upon explicit user initiation.
- Processing: Audio recordings are encoded locally and stored in private app storage (the Voice Vault). Audio data is never transmitted to any external server.
D. Physical Activity Recognition (ACTIVITY_RECOGNITION)
- Instrument: Step Counter / Pedometer (Tool #3).
- Purpose: Counting daily steps, estimating walking cadence and distance, and activating intelligent in-vehicle transit filters to prevent vehicular false-step accumulation.
- Processing: Step tallies and daily summary logs are stored strictly on your local device in a private SQLite database.
E. Foreground Services
FOREGROUND_SERVICE_LOCATION: Maintains continuous GPS tracking and trip logging during active Speedometer trip recording sessions when the screen is turned off.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MICROPHONE: Allows the Voice Recorder to continue capturing audio notes seamlessly when you switch apps or turn off the screen.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE_HEALTH: Enables continuous 24/7 background step counting and daily health goal tracking.
Important Health & Wellness Disclaimer (Tool #17 - Heart Rate):
The Optical Heart Rate & Pulse Monitor in OneTool is designed strictly for general fitness, athletic tracking, and recreational wellness purposes. It is NOT a medical device, clinical diagnostic instrument, or medical equipment. It must not be used for medical diagnosis, prevention, monitoring, treatment, or alleviation of any disease or cardiovascular condition. If you experience health concerns, always consult a qualified healthcare professional.
2. Third-Party Services and Ephemeral External Requests
To provide accurate reference data, OneTool makes limited, anonymous, and ephemeral HTTP requests to trusted public APIs when specific features are explicitly used:
- Weather & Barometric Trends: Queries Open-Meteo (
api.open-meteo.com) to retrieve local atmospheric sea-level pressure (QNH) and weather forecasts for Altimeter calibration.
- Geographic Landmarks & Map Tiles: Queries the Overpass API and OpenStreetMap tile servers (
tile.openstreetmap.org) to render tactical map stamps on GeoCam photos and display nearby landmarks.
- Product & Book Lookup: When scanning commercial barcodes in QR Studio, queries Open Food Facts and Open Library to retrieve product names and book titles.
- Dictionary Reference: When searching for word definitions, queries the Wiktionary REST API, Datamuse API, and Free Dictionary API.
- Live Currency Rates: Queries the Frankfurter API for European Central Bank foreign exchange rates in the Unit Converter.
- Monetization & Advertising: Uses standard Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) for optional rewarded ad sessions and Google Play In-App Billing for Lifetime VIP and Monthly subscription entitlements in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.
None of these external requests transmit your name, phone number, email address, or device serial number.
3. Data Retention and User Control
- Local Storage: All user documents—including vector drawings (Scribbler), audio memos (Voice Vault), step history (Pedometer), trip records (Speedometer), and search history (Dictionary)—are stored locally on your device.
- Data Deletion: You can delete any saved record, drawing, audio file, or trip history at any time directly within the respective tool's interface, or by clearing app data in Android System Settings.
4. Children's Privacy
OneTool does not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children under the age of 13. The application is intended for general audiences, outdoor navigation, and technical utilities.
5. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy periodically to reflect new instruments or operating system requirements. Any updates will be published with a revised effective date.
